What are SCISSORS?
A pair of scissors uses a combined mechanism known as a compound machine. Compound machines are comprised of two or more simple machines in an effort to more efficiently exert force, like the cutting of an object.
The blades of the scissors are a pair of wedges in a cross shape which pivot around a fulcrum. The attached handles are levers.
When force is applied to the handles, it causes the bladed wedges to come together to cut an object from both sides.

Scissors can be used for many cutting jobs and functions to cut some very tough stuff. The most common use of scissors is to cut hair and paper.
Using your iPad and the app Garage Band, all agents are to prepare a 45 second recording discussing what jobs they can do using a pair of scissors.
As an added bonus, using the list of jingles and/or sound effects included in the app and prepare a 10 second intro and outtro. An example is found below for you to test out.

The earliest devices that can be loosely described as scissors were probably made in Egypt in around 1500 BCE. These comprised a single piece of bronze metal formed into a U shape, with the ends of the U sharpened into blades and the curve acting as a spring so that the blades moved apart on release after each cut. However, it would appear that the blades were not designed to cross, which would not have made them particularly efficient.
